Founded in the late Edo period in Seki City, Gifu Prefecture, the venerable Tsunokoshi Shouten is renowned for its traditional seasoned dishes, with one of its masterpieces being the 'Amazake.' Beyond a mere visual presentation, the packaging design for this delectable culinary creation embodies a perfect fusion of traditional craftsmanship and unique concepts.
The initial concept behind the design emphasizes creating a vertical spatial sense, a philosophy that permeates the entire packaging design for Amazake. The ingenious approach lies in infusing the rich broth of Amazake into the local Mino washi paper, lending the packaging a distinctive texture and layering. This creative ingenuity not only reflects respect for indigenous traditional culture but also imparts a profound historical heritage to Amazake.
In the realization of the packaging design, relief printing and foil printing technologies have been extensively applied.
